LifeStar Response was established in 1975 as a family-run ambulance
transportation business in Long Island, New York. In 1996, the company
acquired three ambulance companies in Long Island, and two years later acquired
operations in northern New Jersey, Maryland and Washington DC. In 1999, Care
Ambulance of Alabama, a regional ambulance provider established in 1992, joined
the organization. In 2004, LifeStar opened offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and
today the medical transport company is licensed and provides ambulance and
wheelchair-van services in seven states or jurisdictions serving 36 acute care
institutions and 42 communities.
The LifeStar Response Corporation – LifeStar Companies – was founded in
1997 with the sponsorship and backing of partnering private equity investor
groups. The company’s first five years centered on acquiring and integrating
the medical transportation companies.
In July 2004, LifeStar acquired AccessOnTime. Founded in 1998, AccessOnTime
arranges logistical transportation and language services for the workers’
compensation insurance services industry.
Based outside of Orlando, Florida, AccessOnTime began by serving the Florida
market and since 2001 has expanded its service area coverage nationwide. The
company offers a “one stop” approach to meeting the needs of organizations
active in workers’ compensation healthcare benefit management and
administration. AccessOnTime currently supports approximately 1,200 client
organizations, and, during the last 12 months, arranged approximately 250,000
trips and 15,000 language/translation services.
